I am, for lack of a better word, a generalist, which is a polite way of saying I know a little something about a whole lot of things, although not too much about anything in particular. And how, you might ask, did I manage to acquire such vast knowledge? Maybe it's the fact that, by last count, I've had 58 jobs. I've waited tables, worked road construction crew, dug ditches (literally), and even cleaned the green slime from a power-plant cooling tower. For three years, I was a pilot for the US Navy. Of course, it could also be from the millions of words that make up the thousands of books I've been reading since I was four years old. Or maybe it's as simple as having lived an extremely active and, as Plato might have put it, examined life. To put it more bluntly: I've been around the block a few times, took copious notes, and now I have something to say about the trip.

Oh, and for those who might be interested in such things, I'm happily married to the woman of my dreams--although I had to work my way through a number of marital nightmares in order to find her.

If you'd like to know more about me and how I think about things, you can visit my blog, and, more specifically, my What I Believe and What I Don't Believe pages.
